BHWC and the Southwest Montana Bear Education Working Group will be co-hosting a Bear Safety Awareness training at the Divide Grange prior to BHWC’s October monthly meeting. The event will start at 5PM and will include opportunities to learn about bears, practice with inert bear spray, free bear-resistance garbage cans from BHWC, and a chance to win a new can of bear spray. About the Southwest Montana Bear Education Working Group

The Southwest Montana Bear Education Working Group is a collection of federal and state agencies and non-profit organizations that have common interests in reducing bear-human conflicts, increasing social tolerance for bears, and promoting the understanding of bears and their biology. Our partners include the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, Custer Gallatin National Forest, Wildlife Management Institute, Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks in Region 3, People and Carnivores, Wildlife Conservation Society, US Fish and Wildlife Service at Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, and Bear Trust International.
