BHWC’s February 2017 monthly meeting topic was Flood-irrigated Habitat (FIH) and the Big Hole Watershed, presented by Michelle Anderson, Professor of Biology at the University of Montana Western.

The meeting included an overview of FIH and its impact on birds, a discussion regarding irrigation practices, and an introduction to a proposed project studying the importance of flood-irrigation to birds in the Big Hole Watershed.  Michelle is currently on sabbatical from teaching and is investigating the possibility of partnering with BHWC to study FIH and birds in our area.

Our meeting minutes provide a summary of the information and discussion that followed.
