It’s that time of year again – smoke is in the air, flows are low, and temperatures are high.  Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks announced the addition of Hoot Owl Fishing Restrictions to Big Hole River – Section  II beginning today, Tuesday 8/2/2016 in accordance with the Big Hole River Drought Management Plan.  Hoot Owl Restrictions regulate fishing during the hottest part of the day, 2pm to midnight.  To see restrictions and closures for all sections of the river, visit our River Conditions page.

River flows are also dropping. All river users are asked to prepare to take water conservation measures, particularly in Sections I, IV, and V where flows have reached “Prepare for Conservation” targets.
