Low flows and warm temperatures continue this week, creating critical conditions for fish. As a result, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks closed Big Hole River Sections I and V beginning today, Monday 8/1/2016 in accordance with the Big Hole River Drought Management Plan.

Hoot Owl Restrictions will start on Section II tomorrow, Tuesday 8/2/2016.  Hoot Owl Restrictions regulate fishing during the hottest part of the day, from 2pm to midnight.

River flows continue to drop. All river users are asked to prepare to take water conservation measures, particularly in Sections I, IV, and V where flows have reached “Prepare for Conservation” targets.
