BHWC is Hiring a Communications Coordinator!

We are seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator to help tell the story of collaborative conservation in southwest Montana.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about conservation, rural communities, and science communication and who enjoys working across social media, storytelling, outreach, photography, events, and public engagement.

The role is primarily remote, though preference will be given to applicants who live in or near the Big Hole region, including Divide, Wisdom, Dillon, Butte, and Anaconda. The position includes opportunities to participate in field projects, restoration work, outreach events, workshops, and conservation partnerships throughout southwest Montana.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about conservation and the communities of southwest Montana
  • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Is organized, creative, and self-motivated
  • Enjoys communicating science and conservation to broad audiences
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations for quality and results

The Communications & Outreach Coordinator will help:

  • Create and manage content for BHWC’s website, newsletters, and social media
  • Document restoration projects and field work
  • Produce short-form video and visual storytelling content
  • Support outreach events and partner relationships
  • Assist with grant reporting, meeting minutes, branded merchandise, and organizational communications

Graphic design, photography, and filmmaking experience are helpful but not required. Basic video editing skills for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are preferred.

This position offers competitive compensation, flexibility, opportunities for growth and bonuses, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in one of the West’s most unique and collaborative conservation landscapes.

  • 2–3 examples of communications work (writing, photography, social media, video, graphic design, etc.)
