Please help us welcome Ben Laporte as our new Restoration Specialist! Ben will be an important asset for restoration as he directly supports work occurring throughout the Big Hole River watershed but most of all on the Mount Haggin Wildlife Management Area.
Ben has over 4 years of land stewardship, conservation, and restoration work experience in Western Montana. His diverse experience includes invasive weed management, riparian, upland and forest restoration, wildlife habitat improvement, and trail construction. Ben is educated in watershed ecology, river ecology, wildlife ecosystems, and land/recreation management practices and principles. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Environmental Studies and is an avid backpacker, mountain biker, kayaker, snowboarder, fisherman, and hunter.
This new position was created to help support the many on-the-ground restoration projects occurring to improve upland vegetation and support healthy water quality, fish habitat, and water quantity.
