The local BLM office was faced with a unique challenge: what to do with rootwads left over after several years of hazardous trees removal. It’s fairly easy to find a home for the firewood, but the root wads – not so much. In 2019, the BLM solved this problem by donating the rootwads to the Big Hole Watershed Committee. We were thrilled to take them, as they provide valuable material for our streambank stabilization and sediment reduction project at French Creek! Read more below.
