The Big Hole Watershed Committee holds public meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at the Divide Grange Hall. These meetings provide an opportunity for community members to stay informed about watershed projects, committee activities, current issues affecting the Big Hole River, and upcoming events. Each meeting includes committee updates, project reports, time for discussion, and presentations from guest speakers on topics relevant to the watershed and local communities.
At our May 2026 meeting, we welcomed several presenters covering topics important to the Big Hole watershed:
- Jim Olsen of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks shared information about the agency’s Adaptive Fish Management Plan and reviewed the results of recent fish population surveys in the Big Hole River.
- Grayson Gee of Rainmaker presented a proposal for a cloud seeding pilot project in the Big Hole watershed.
- Jon Peterson, BHWC Hydrology Technician, discussed his work measuring streamflows in tributaries, springs, and irrigation ditches throughout the watershed to help improve our understanding of local water resources.
