Your Support Makes Conservation Work Possible
Over the past few years, BHWC has invested in building a strong, stable organization — and it’s paying off. We are now able to take on complex, long-term conservation challenges because we have the foundation to do it well. But that foundation depends on community support.
Most of the work that makes our projects possible is not covered by grants. Your contribution fills that gap and keeps real work moving.
What Your Gift Supports
Flow Monitoring
BHWC contributes tens of thousands of dollars each year to operate USGS stream gages — including the Wise River gage, which we added to ensure better drought-management decisions. These gages are essential for managing our river, and community support keeps them running.
Project Development
Before a shovel hits the ground, there are months (sometimes years) spent meeting with landowners and partners, securing permits, building budgets, writing grants, and working with contractors. This pre-work is mission-critical — and not grant-funded.
Outreach & Public Access to Information
From our open monthly meetings at the Divide Grange to ongoing updates via email, website, and social media — we invest in transparency and public involvement so anyone in the Basin can stay informed and engaged.
Finishing and Supporting On-the-Ground Work
Donor dollars help close funding gaps, match grants, and “polish off” projects large and small so they can be completed and maintained.
Regional Collaboration
We represent the Big Hole in regional partnerships, bringing technical resources and funding opportunities back home.
Opportunity & Flexibility
Your support allows us to respond when new opportunities emerge — whether it’s expanding a program, launching a pilot project, or stepping in when the river or community needs us most.
